Q. Is my furniture worth re-upholstering?A.
We usually ask a few questions to help answer this question;
Do you feel that you own a quality piece of furniture? Does the piece have sentimental value to you? Does the furniture fit your space? Do you like the piece, aside from the fabric? If so, then the furniture is absolutely worth reupholstering. We are also able to modify your existing furniture to create a new, updated look.
Q. How long does re-upholstery take?
A.
We usually have a 4 – 6 week back log of work that is ahead of new, approved projects. Once a project is approved, we can schedule a time to pick up your furniture or have it delivered to our shop when we are ready to begin work on it. Once we start working on your project, we normally have a turn-around time of 1 - 3 weeks based on the piece(s). If the structure is in need of repair or refinishing it can take longer.
Q. What is the cost of my project?
A.
Every piece we work on is different. When we review your project details we will be able to provide a general cost of labor and how much material is needed.
Q. Do I need an appointment?
A.
We highly recommend scheduling an appointment, especially if you want to look at fabric. Also, bringing in the piece for us to look at is the best way to determine the most accurate estimate.
Walk-ins are always welcome but please note that we are sometimes in and out of the shop for appointments, pickups and deliveries.
Q. Why should I re-upholster when I can buy new furniture inexpensively?
A.
There are some great deals on new furniture out there, but how important to you is the construction of your furniture? Do you want it to last several or more years?
The problem with buying new furniture today is that a majority of the furniture is cheaply manufactured. New pieces can contain plywood frames and plastic structural elements, inferior quality foam, and inferior upholstery fabric or leather. These inexpensive materials can cause your furniture to lose its shape, become uncomfortable, and look shabby after only a matter of months.
Q. My cushions are out of shape and not as comfortable as I would like them to be. What
can I do?
A. We frequently have customers telling us how the fabric on their furniture looks good, but the cushions are not holding their shape, and are no longer comfortable. Replacing your existing cushions is one of the easiest ways to bring life back to your furniture. There are a couple of options to replacing or repairing your cushions. High density foam rubber core cushions and down wrapped cushions are our most popular choices. If your cushions aren't in that bad of shape but need a little bit of life to them, we have can wrap them in a Dacron fiber, used to bring back the new look and comfort of an older cushion.
Q. Will you come to my home for an estimate?
A.
We do offer “in-home” estimates. There is a $50.00 fee for “in-home” estimates. This fee would be used toward the final invoice, should you have the work done with us.
Q. Can I change the style of my furniture?
A.
Yes, depending on the frame, there are many modifications we can make to update the look of your furniture. Changing the skirt length, tufting and buttons, or removing them all together are common alterations we perform. Changing the shape of the arms, legs, or upholstery style are just a few options you can choose to make your piece look completely different.
Q. What is Railroaded fabric?
A.
Conventional upholstery fabric has the pattern going up the fabric roll. In other words, it runs on the length of the fabric, not the width. Railroaded fabric has the pattern running on the width, that is sideways up the roll.
Q. Can I bring in my own material?
A.
Absolutely! If you find a material that you love, we can almost always accommodate. There is a COM (customers own material) fee of $10.00 per yard.
We do have a large selection of material samples to choose from in our shop as well.
Q. How do I choose a fabric or leather for my furniture?
A.
Choosing a fabric or leather to upholster your furniture can be a daunting task. We are here to help you with the process by finding out information from you with regards to how the furniture will be used, to what sort of colors and patterns will work with your existing style and décor. We have a large selection of materials to chose from with wide varieties of color, patterns and textures.
Q. Do you offer pickup and delivery and do have a fee for that?
A.
We do offer pickup and delivery. There is a fee and the amount will depend upon what pieces you have for collection or delivery and where they are located. Please call or email to inquire for more information.
